THE ADVANCED BACK PAIN PROGRAM

The Advanced Back Pain Program offered only at PureMed Spine, Neuropathy, and Arthritis Center in Englewood, NJ is a revolutionary new treatment protocol designed to help patients suffering from back pain, neck pain, and herniated discs without the use of drugs or surgery. This unique protocol involves a combination of clinically effective, advanced, non-invasive therapies all in one complete visit. Patients with chronic low back pain, spine problems from car accidents or sports injuries, even those who have had failed back surgeries have been able to be helped with these therapies. The Advanced Back Pain Program gives patients new hope when other treatments have failed. The following is a list of therapies included in the program:

Spinal Disc Decompression Therapy

slide homeooooSpinal Disc Decompression Therapy uses computer-aided technology to apply gentle, non-surgical decompression to your spine. An FDA-cleared technology, Spinal Disc Decompression relieves pain by enlarging the space between spinal discs, which creates a negative pressure relieving compression on discs and nerves and allowing the herniated/ bulging discs to eventually return to their normal positions. Chronic low back pain, past sports spine injuries, car accident patients, and even patients who have had failed spine surgeries have been helped tremendously by this state-of-the-art therapy. A clinical study performed by the Orthopedic Technology Review in 2004 demonstrated back pain
relief in many cases of disc decompression.

Class IV Laser Therapy

back 20laserClass IV Lasers are FDA approved and are the most advanced lasers on the market today for pain relief. These lasers are non-invasive and non-surgical. Traditional lasers used at most other centers are a Class III laser (also known as Cold Lasers), which provide less than optimal clinical outcomes in most disease conditions because it cannot produce the deep tissue laser penetration that is necessary. It works by a process called photobiostimulation, which in simple terms turns laser light energy into chemical energy inside the damaged or injured cells, such as in joints with osteoarthritis or injured discs in the spine. This in turn immediately decreases inflammation, decreases pain, improves circulation, improves nerve
function, and accelerates tissue repair.

Physical Therapy

physical therapy assistantAt PureMed Spine, Neuropathy, and Arthritis Center, our Doctor of Physical Therapy works hand-in-hand with patients to formulate a customized physical therapy treatment plan that is intended for you and your needs. Physical Therapy can help patients control/ eliminate pain, often reducing the need for long term use of medications. Studies reveal that individuals who receive physical therapy experience greater improvement in function with less pain. The physical therapy treatment will be combined with the other therapies to decrease pain, increase flexibility, and restore proper joint function. We work with many types of patients, from infants, to adults, to elderly patients and use exercises and state-of-the-art equipment to help patients regain and improve their physical abilities.

PEMF Therapy

dr oz 1As seen on the Dr. Oz Show, Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) or magnetic resonance is a relatively new therapy which demonstrates impressive efficacy as a stand alone or complementary therapy to ongoing treatments for pain and many other conditions. PEMFs have been used extensively for many conditions and medical disciplines, and results can be seen in animals as well as humans. The National Institutes of Health have made PEMFs a priority for research. In fact, PEMF devices have already been approved by the FDA, some specifically to fuse broken bones, wound healing, pain and tissue swelling, and treat depression.

Electronic Stimulation Therapy

ModalitiesThe American Physical Therapy Association acknowledges the use of Electrical Stimulation for pain management, improved range of motion, treatment of neuromuscular dysfunction, and improvement of strength. It is also used of improvement of motor control, retard muscle atrophy, improve local blood flow, and induce repeated stretching of contracted, shortened soft tissues. Electronic Stimulation Therapy enhances tissue repair, microcirculation and protein synthesis to heal wounds, restore the integrity of connective and dermal tissues. It accelerates absorption rate, affects blood vessel permeability, increases mobility of proteins, blood cells, peripheral blood flow, and induce arterial, venous, and lymphatic flow.

HydroMassage Therapy

VWpHgQ hydromassage2Sidmar HydroMassage tables are listed with the FDA as Class 1 Medical Devices and are used by more than 5,000 doctors everyday. HydroMassage relaxes tight muscles like a professional hands-on massage. The muscles are an important element in spinal care. HydroMassage before Spinal Decompression Therapy relaxes the muscles helping to diminish the negative effects of muscle guarding so the Spinal Decompression forces be as effective as possible. In addition, the HydroMassage Therapy helps alleviate pain and tight
muscles in the entire spine
, not just a single area, for total relaxation.

Chiropractic Adjustments

backpain5 1Chiropractic adjustments are widely recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal complaints. Chiropractic adjustments are a manual procedure that utilizes the highly refined skills developed during the doctor of chiropractic's intensive years of chiropractic education. The chiropractic physician typically uses his hands or instrument to adjust the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to restore or enhance joint function. This often helps resolve joint inflammation and reduces the patient's pain. The chiropractor adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic adjustments, but some may experience mild soreness or aching, just as they
do after some forms of exercise. Current literature shows that
minor discomfort or soreness following adjustments typically
fade within 24 hours.

CoreFitness Strength/ Flexibility/ Cardio Training

RackMultipart20121226 8120 gk0n98Our CoreFitness Strength/ Flexibility/ Cardio Training is prescribed and started once the patient has a decrease from their initial symptoms. The core muscles make it possible to stand upright and move on two feet. These muscles help control movements, transfer energy, shift body weight and move in any direction. A strong core distributes the stresses of weight-bearing and protects the back. Having a strong core assures that your back is flexible and less likely to become reinjured again.
